Letter to Dean Stanley (McCance's Superintendent)

Dear Mr. Stanley:

I am a deeply concerned citizen writing to urge you to action regarding Clint McChance’s recent comments on Facebook. Although we all have a right to express our opinions in this country, even ignorant hateful ones, Mr. McChance’s comments clearly preclude him from involvement on the Midland School District Board. Put simply, Mr. McChance applauded the recent suicides of CHILDREN, and insisted that he would be thrilled if all gay children and adults killed themselves as well.  In fact, he even said he would wear purple on that day.

I am sure you would agree, regardless of anyone’s stance on issues such as gay civil rights, any person that applauds the death of children, and openly wishes for more dead children, is by definition, unfit to serve on a school board.  I urge you to use whatever means are at your disposal to censure, suspend, fire or otherwise act to protect ALL children in your community from bully and bigot, Clint McChance. The blood of the next gay child suicide is on all of our hands.  Please do what you can to prevent any more dead children in your district, and in all of them.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Open Letter to Clint McCance - October 28, 2010

Dear Mr. McCance:

I’m writing in regards to your recent comments expressing your delight about the recent string of gay suicides.  In your comments, you claim to be a devout Christian. While I would love to absolutely blast you for your hateful, bigoted commentary, I will keep this simple.

As the saying goes, “What Would Jesus Do?” Could you sit in a room with the parents of these dead CHILDREN and read your comments out loud? Could you do it if Jesus were sitting there, looking over your shoulder? Do you think Jesus would try to provide care and comfort to these parents, to their suffering children? Or do you think he’d be likely to come to Arkansas and drink beer with you and your buddies while you decimate the English language, spout your filthy death-wishes, and LOUDLY APPLAUD THE DEATH OF CHILDREN?  I’ll bet Jesus would love that!

Remember, Jesus was a radical.  He wasn’t hanging out with people in positions of power, such as yourself.  He was in the streets with the poor, the downtrodden, the whores and the lepers. If you think he’d be giving you a high-five for your Facebook comments and helping you clean your guns, I think you’re mistaken.

Imagine reading these comments to your wife after she found one of your children hanging in the backyard because they couldn’t take the hate and ignorance any longer.  You can say you would run your kids off if they were gay, but would you be joyful if your 13 year old blew his head off in your closet and you found his lifeless body?  Would you dance around spewing hate? Would you say, “Yee-Haw! Now I don’t have to wish for my gay son to get AIDS and die later! He’s dead NOW!” Again, what would you do if Jesus were in the room with you?

You, sir, are ignorant. That’s not a hateful statement, it is simply a fact. You are ignorant about the importance of raising children in a supportive, bully-free, environment. You are totally ignorant about gay people, but that doesn’t seem to bother you.  Perhaps most egregiously, (go ahead, look it up, I can wait) you are ignorant about Christ and his teachings. Far too many people parade around “Christian Values” that are anything but “Christ-like”.  Although you, literally, wished for me to DIE because of who I love, my wish for you is that something comes along, perhaps this current controversy, that helps you get your head out of your ass.  It will have to be something pretty major, because your head is shoved *really* far up there.

Whether you like it or not, there ARE gay children in the the Midland School District, and you are obviously unfit to serve their needs on the school board, just as you are unfit to meet ANY children’s needs in your district. Please understand, you wished for these CHILDREN to die in the same breath that you professed your devout Christianity. Disgusting.  That you are in any position that affects children’s educational needs in any capacity makes me truly weep for the future.  May God have mercy on you.

Sincerely,

Letter to Rep. Virginia Foxx (NC) April 29, 2009

I'm sick of all the lies and this civil rights chatter going on right now. I had to write a letter to this mouth-breather. I think I'll keep it as a template. Looks like we're going to continue to need it for a while...

Dear Ms. Foxx:

You, madame, are a liar. Your misleading statements about the crime against Matthew Shepard and his loved ones should leave you hanging your head in deep shame. Your denial of our civil rights will haunt you in the future.

Please think about this: Look at someone you love dearly. Now, imagine they are dying in the hospital and you are denied visitation due to your lack of legal rights as a married partner. Your loved one dies, terrified and alone, while you are 30 feet away, frantically trying to get past the waiting area doors to say goodbye.

Look at your loved one again and please think about that. Their tears, your pleas--those final awful minutes. It is horrific, it is inhuman, and ultimately, it will be found unconstitutional. That is what you and your ilk are doing. You are ripping real families and loved ones apart. You are protecting hate. You are ensuring that at least some second-class citizens die alone. I mean, isn't one too many?

You, whatever your 'good' intentions, are hurting mothers and daughters, husbands and sons, grandparents, and lovers alike because they 'dare' love someone who is gay.

WE DESERVE TO BE PROTECTED FROM HATE CRIMES. WE DESERVE ALL THE SAME RIGHTS AND PROTECTIONS AS HETEROSEXUALS UNDER THE CONSTITUTION! You will understand that some day, hopefully soon.

Peace to you and your family, and Peace unto mine (Eventually...)

Sincerely,

Michael Bova
